What is SPAN?

SPAN is a smart electrical panel that revolutionizes home energy systems, replacing existing panels for new or retrofit homes. With SPAN, control and monitor every circuit from your phone, gain real-time insights into energy usage, manage loads, and modernize your home seamlessly.

How do I use SPAN?

You can use the SPAN Home App to monitor your home’s energy consumption, solar production, battery system, and EV charging. You can turn circuits on/off manually while at home or away. You can automate which circuits should take priority to remain on during off-grid operation when your home is relying on your battery.

Can I install SPAN with a standby generator?

The SPAN Panel may be installed with a standby generator – with limited functionality – only when the SPAN Panel is downstream of an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) or Manual Transfer Switch (MTS) to manage generator connection.

How can SPAN help me avoid a service upgrade?

SPAN can help to avoid a service conductor upgrade with an enhancement called PowerUp, a smart energy management system that keeps incoming power below a home’s service rating.

To determine if SPAN can help you avoid a service conductor upgrade, it is best to discuss your questions with a SPAN-authorized installer (Point Electric LLC) to assess your home’s eligibility.

What is PowerUp?

PowerUp is a smart energy management system developed by SPAN to keep incoming power below a home’s service rating. This enables homeowners to install electric appliances that their home may not normally support by managing power to SPAN circuits.

It may be especially helpful for homeowners who are:
1. Adding cooling or backup electric heat
2. Having home additions or renovations
3. Adding an EV charger
4. Looking to avoid service upgrades

Do I need more than one SPAN Panel?

In some situations, installing more than one SPAN Panel may be required to accommodate your needs:
1. Larger homes with many circuits (more than 32)
2. Larger homes with 400 Amp utility service or larger
3. Users with multiple properties

How does SPAN Drive work?

SPAN is certified to UL standards as an Energy Management System, allowing for dynamic charging management based on real-time home energy monitoring. This means you can charge faster (up to 48 Amps!) in most situations. If SPAN detects you’re nearing the limit of your utility connection rating (for example, if running multiple air conditioners while cooking on your electric range), SPAN Drive’s charge rate will be temporarily decreased until that extra power is available.

Does SPAN Drive need an internet connection to charge my car?

No, your SPAN Panel and SPAN Drive will continue to follow your settings even without an internet connection.
